As a Media Buyer within 85SIXTY, you will play a crucial role in executing and optimizing direct media buys across multiple vendors/partners for our clients. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and communication skills. You will be responsible for delivering high quality work and value to clients by leading media placement selection, negotiations, and campaign execution. Experience across traditional, linear, and digital mediums is needed to succeed in this role. You will work with the Endemic media lead to understand strategic alignment relative to each client’s needs and how to formulate an integrated plan across various partners. You will also collaborate with other media channel team members to define the appropriate tactics to employ that will support clients’ unique business goals.

The ideal Media Buyer candidate will possess a strong understanding of marketing principles and have the ability to interpret media metric analytics to derive actionable insights. This person will also be able to visualize the larger, cross-channel approach to media deployment, which will help guide overall investment recommendations and optimization decisions.


Responsibilities:

  Buying:

  • Manage Direct (Endemic) buying for 8+ clients at a time.
  • Write, issue, and review RFP’s with media partners to create media plans that meet and exceed client goals.
  • Work with vendors across traditional and digital publishers to negotiate direct buys, ensuring we get the best value for our clients.
  • Establish the role of various media placements and tactics in achieving client goals.
  • Responsible for filling in and maintaining Flowcharts, Pacing, Production Grids, Signing IO’s and other docs that are a part of campaign implementation needs.
  • Manage budgets and monitor campaign costs and ROI metrics, and also proactively address foreseeable issues when necessary.
  • Proof media calculations, pacing, tagging, etc before campaign(s) launch and throughout flight.

  Planning:

  • Research publisher landscape to identify potential media partners and determine appropriate media tactics.
  • Work with the Endemic department lead to design an integrated strategy to meet client goals respective to each campaign.
  • Establish the role of various media tactics in achieving client goals.
  • Summarize the objective and approach to Direct/Endemic media programs as part of the larger client campaign strategy within the media plan
    • Responsible for presenting your recommendation to the client during planning meetings.

  Documentation, Reporting, and Trafficking:

  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis - Reporting cadences include: Bi-Weekly, Monthly, and Post-campaign Wrap Reports.
  • Assign tracking to media components and synthesize campaign data into insightful observations and evolved activations. 
  • Coordinate appropriate tracking needs and structure with our Ad Trafficking team
    • Provide assets and campaign information to create tags for each partner.
    • Work with the Account Team and Creative Production teams to provide asset direction and needs.
    • Send out tags and assets to all vendors. QA set-up and validate accurate implementation prior to campaign launch.
    • Reconcile planned vs actualized spend per partner on a monthly cadence for account pacing/ reallocation and billing purposes.

  Research:

  • Meet with media vendors, technology partners & platforms, and other vendors.
  • Perform research to identify potential media partners and determine appropriate media tactics. 
  • Conduct market research and analyze demographics, media usage, psychographic, and buying patterns to define the target audience and campaign requirements. 
  • Monitor audience and media trends, practices, and new technologies.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Located in San Diego. This is a Hybrid position, but in-office attendance is encouraged to preset meetings and ongoing collaboration.
  • Bachelor's degree in Media, Marketing or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience buying publisher direct deals at an agency. 
    • Experience in negotiating deals with affiliate / rev share  is a plus.
    • Knowledge of platforms/tools Impact, Rautken, CJ, Avant Link, etc is a plus
  • Fluency in composing clear and concise negotiations / partnership terms with the ability to handle a high volume of emails daily.
  • Client-facing presentation skills.
  • Able to build presentations using Microsoft Powerpoint, Google Slides, and similar tools. High competency in composing spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets.
  • Experience with Campaign Manager 360, Tableau, and Google Analytics.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage workload and timelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with an ability to multitask.
  • Team player that brings a positive and collaborative attitude to daily work.

Compensation Disclaimer:

Compensation Range: $70,000 - $80,000 annually. Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to job-related knowledge, level of relevant experience, education, skills and geographic location (to account for comparative cost of living). 85SIXTY reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
